Islamic State

A journalist, Qur'anic commentator and political thinker who founded the Jamaat-e-Islami in 1941. His six-volume Urdu commentary Tafhim al-Qur'an and his writings on the Islamic state were among the most widely circulated Muslim political works of the twentieth century.

The second holiest city in Islam, where Prophet Muhammad established the first Islamic state after the Hijra in 622 CE. Home to the Prophet's Mosque and his burial place, Medina served as the capital of the early Islamic community.

The first four Caliphs of Islam (632-661 CE), known as the 'Rightly-Guided Caliphs,' who succeeded Prophet Muhammad and established the foundations of Islamic civilization through unprecedented territorial expansion, administrative innovation, and preservation of Islamic teachings.

An organisation founded by Abul A'la Maududi in 1941 to form a disciplined body of Muslims trained to lead society according to Islamic norms. After the partition of India it developed into separate organisations in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.
