Ruqayyah bint Muhammad

A daughter of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and Khadijah. Released from a childhood betrothal to a son of Abu Lahab, she married Uthman ibn Affan and was the only one of the Prophet's daughters to migrate to Abyssinia. She died of smallpox as news of Badr reached Medina.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) had seven children: three sons, al-Qasim, Abdullah and Ibrahim, who all died in childhood, and four daughters, Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthum and Fatimah. Six were born at Mecca to Khadijah bint Khuwaylid; Ibrahim to Mariya al-Qibtiyya. Only Fatimah outlived him.
